Nintendo’s July 31 Partner Showcase lit up screens with a wave of announcements for both the Nintendo Switch and the brand‑new Switch 2. Third‑party publishers took center stage, delivering a robust lineup that spanned JRPGs, action franchises, remakes, sports titles, and cozy simulation experiences. Square Enix stole the spotlight with two new HD‑2D RPGs: Octopath Traveler 0, launching December 4 on both systems, and The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales, an action-adventure RPG with a free demo already available and a full release planned for 2026. Elliot’s charming journey, featuring seven upgradeable weapon types and a co-op fairy companion, earned praise for its nostalgia‑infused visuals and gameplay.
Fans of tactical classics cheered as Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles was confirmed for both Switch and Switch 2 on September 30, remastered with fully voiced dialogue and enhanced visuals. Capcom officially unveiled Monster Hunter Stories 3: Twisted Reflection, a turn-based RPG set for a 2026 release, exclusive to Switch 2. The game features deeply bonded monster companions and a richly crafted fantasy world. SEGA is bringing Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2 to Switch 2 on November 13, featuring visual upgrades and discounted upgrades for owners of the original versions.
Also revealed was Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, arriving this November with motion-control support for both consoles.
The showcase diversified further with Chillin’ by the Fire, a cozy bonfire simulation now available exclusively on Switch 2, and a free demo of Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, a hand‑drawn ninja action platformer on the original Switch. EA SPORTS Madden NFL 26 (August 14) and EA SPORTS FC 26 (September 26) are coming to Switch 2, while Apex Legends is now free-to-play with platform-exclusive rewards.
Expanding the variety even more, Nintendo introduced a slate of high-profile ports and standout indie titles. Upcoming releases include Star Wars Outlaws (September 4), Persona 3 Reload (October 23), PAC-MAN World 2 Re-PAC (September 26), Borderlands 4 (October 3), and Cronos: The New Dawn (September 5). Also arriving is the emotionally driven Goodnight Universe, set for release on November 11.
Exclusive Switch 2 titles slated for later include Drag x Drive (August 14), a wheelchair-basketball-style sports game using Joy-Con motion controls, as well as upcoming titles like Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment, Kirby Air Riders, Splatoon Raiders, and Hades 2.
Overall, this Direct confirmed Nintendo’s strategic shift: Switch 2 is quickly building a varied and timely third‑party lineup, one far more diverse and robust than the original Switch ever offered. From surprise reveals to polished ports and inventive indie experiences, there’s plenty to look forward to on both platforms.
