Yamaha True X Surround 90A offers 12‑speaker Dolby Atmos system

Yamaha soundbar system in stylish living room

Yamaha has introduced a truly advanced home‑cinema sound system called the True X Surround 90A. Instead of just being a big soundbar, it comes as a complete four‑piece setup that aims to bring real movie‑theatre sound into living rooms.

At the heart of the system is a sleek bar loaded with 12 upward‑firing “beam” speakers, six on each side. These drivers send sound towards the ceiling to produce genuine overhead audio, something most rival systems only deliver with four or five too few speakers. Yamaha says this setup competes with ceiling installations and delivers immersive Dolby Atmos sound.

In front, the bar uses four oval full‑range drivers plus three tweeters, all neatly arranged to offer clear volume, rich mids, and crisp highs even at louder levels with no distortion.

This package also includes a wireless subwoofer featuring Yamaha’s “symmetrical flare port,” a design that reduces unwanted air‑turbulence noise by up to 20 dB. The result is powerful, expressive bass with minimal distortion.

You’ll also get two wireless rear speakers. These can be placed in the back for surround sound or carried elsewhere and used as standalone Bluetooth speakers for flexible listening around your home.

Yamaha has borrowed its Surround:AI processing from its premium AV receivers, marking the first time this smart, adaptive sound engine is used in a soundbar. It analyzes what you hear voice, music, or effects and adjusts in real time for the best audio balance.

On the tech side, the system supports Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and Auro‑3D, and works with AirPlay, Bluetooth, and Yamaha’s MusicCast multi‑room platform. It connects easily via HDMI eARC or optical input, and even includes a wall‑mount for neat installation.

Pricing is set at £2,499 in the UK, with availability from September 2025. Equivalent prices in Australia (A$4,499) and the U.S. (approx. US$3,300) are expected to be announced soon.

Here’s a simple comparison to show what makes this setup special:
