Sony will implement a PS5 price increase on April 2, 2026, lifting prices across its main console lineup in the United States and several international markets. In the U.S., the standard PlayStation 5 will move to $649.99, the Digital Edition to $599.99 and the PS5 Pro to $899.99.
The new U.S. pricing means the standard model and Digital Edition each rise by $100, while the PS5 Pro climbs by $150. Sony said the decision followed a review of continued pressure in the global economy and described the move as necessary to support the delivery of high-quality gaming experiences worldwide.
This update is notable because the PS5 price increase is not limited to one model or one territory. It also covers markets including the U.K., Europe and Japan, pointing to a broader reset in PlayStation hardware pricing rather than a narrow regional adjustment.
Sony is also raising the recommended retail price of the PlayStation Portal from the same date. The device will be priced at $249.99 in the U.S., £219.99 in the U.K., €249.99 in Europe and ¥39,980 in Japan.
The wider scope of the changes suggests Sony is repositioning its gaming hardware portfolio around longer-term economic costs instead of treating the increase as a short-term response.
