AirPods Max 2 Focuses on H2-Powered Audio Upgrades

Apple is updating its premium over-ear headphones with a feature-focused refresh built around the H2 chip. Instead of changing the look of the product, the company has concentrated on audio processing, communication tools and creator-friendly upgrades. This makes AirPods Max 2 more of a performance update than a redesign.

The new headphones introduce several features that were not previously available on this model, including Adaptive Audio, Conversation Awareness, Voice Isolation and Live Translation. Apple is also expanding the device’s use beyond entertainment by adding Camera Remote support and studio-quality recording options aimed at creators, podcasters and interview-based work.

Audio improvements are a central part of the update. Apple says noise cancellation is significantly stronger than before, while Transparency mode has been refined to deliver a more realistic sense of outside sound. A new high dynamic range amplifier is also designed to improve clarity, bass consistency and the precision of Spatial Audio playback.

AirPods Max 2 support 24-bit, 48 kHz lossless audio through the included USB-C cable, along with lower latency for music production and gaming use. The headphones keep the existing overall design and arrive in midnight, starlight, orange, purple and blue. Pricing starts at $549 in the United States, with orders opening March 25 and wider availability scheduled for early next month.
