Renowned game designer Hideo Kojima has officially announced that “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach” is set for release on June 26, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5. The revelation came during a panel at SXSW 2025, where Kojima unveiled a 10-minute trailer, offering fans a glimpse into the game’s narrative and mechanics.
The sequel brings back familiar faces, with Norman Reedus reprising his role as Sam Bridges, Léa Seydoux as Fragile, and Troy Baker as Higgs. They are joined by new cast members, including Elle Fanning (Tomorrow), Shioli Kutsuna (Rainy), and George Miller (Tarman). Additional actors such as Luca Marinelli (Neil), Debra Wilson (Doctor), and Alissa Jung (Lucy) also join the ensemble, enriching the game’s character dynamics.
Set 11 months after the formation of the United Cities of America, the game’s setting features automated deliveries and a new opposing faction. Inspired by Kojima’s experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic, the game’s script has been reworked.
“Death Stranding 2: On the Beach” will be available in several editions:
- Standard Edition: Priced at $69.99, this includes the base game.

The trailer features “To The Wilder” by Woodkid, serving as the sequel’s soundtrack. Additionally, a “Strands of Harmony World Tour,” a Death Stranding concert tour, will kick off on November 8, 2025.
Beyond “Death Stranding 2,” Kojima Productions is developing two additional projects: the Xbox horror game “OD” and an action espionage game codenamed “PHYSINT.”
