Samsung’s recent release of the second beta version of Android 15-based One UI 7.0 for the Galaxy S23 series has introduced notable enhancements, including the ability to summon Google Gemini via the power button. However, users have reported a significant issue where engaging the Gemini Live feature leads to the One UI Home launcher becoming unresponsive.
On the platform X (formerly known as Twitter), user @SteFabolous shared a video demonstrating the problem: after using Gemini Live and returning to the home screen, the launcher ceases to respond, prompting a “System UI isn’t responding” message with options to force close or wait. Selecting “force close” causes the launcher to reload, temporarily resolving the issue. Multiple users have corroborated this experience, indicating a widespread concern among those testing the beta software.
SamMobile conducted tests to replicate the reported problem and confirmed its occurrence. After closing all applications, launching Gemini in Live mode, and then returning to the home screen, the issue manifested. Subsequent attempts to open other apps resulted in grayed-out navigation buttons and the same “System UI isn’t responding” error, necessitating a force close of the launcher to restore functionality.
As of now, Samsung has not issued an official statement regarding this specific issue. Users participating in the beta program are encouraged to report such problems through official channels to aid in the identification and resolution process. The beta phase is intended to uncover and address such issues before the public release of the software.
While the introduction of new features in One UI 7 Beta 2 showcases Samsung’s commitment to enhancing user experience, the instability caused by the Gemini Live feature underscores the challenges inherent in beta testing. Users are advised to proceed with caution and report any anomalies to assist in the development of a stable final release.
