Microsoft 365 Introduces AI Features and Adjusts Pricing

Microsoft 365 Introduces AI Features

Microsoft has integrated Copilot, an AI assistant, into applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote. Copilot helps users by drafting content, analyzing data, creating presentations, and summarizing emails. For example, in Word, Copilot can generate initial drafts and suggest edits, making writing more efficient.

In Excel, it can perform advanced data analysis using natural language commands, eliminating the need for complex coding.

Microsoft 365 Pricing and Subscription Changes

With the introduction of these AI features, Microsoft has adjusted its subscription pricing. The Microsoft 365 Personal plan now costs $9.99 per month (previously $6.99), and the Family plan is $12.99 per month (previously $9.99). This marks the first price increase since 2013.

Existing subscribers who prefer not to use the new AI features can opt for “Personal Classic” or “Family Classic” plans, maintaining the original pricing without AI functionalities.

New Security and Compliance Features

To address growing cybersecurity concerns, Microsoft has enhanced security measures in Microsoft 365. These include improved phishing protection, data encryption, and multi-factor authentication, ensuring user data remains secure.

The Future of Microsoft 365

Looking ahead, Microsoft plans to further integrate AI into its applications, aiming to boost productivity and streamline workflows. These advancements position Microsoft 365 competitively against platforms like Google Workspace, which is also incorporating AI features.
