Niantic has launched the ‘Might and Mastery’ season in Pokémon GO, introducing the Fighting-type Pokémon, Kubfu, to the game. Trainers can encounter a Dynamax Kubfu by completing the first step of the free Special Research questline, available from March 5 to June 3, 2025.
The ‘Might and Mastery’ Special Research comprises five steps, with the first two currently accessible:
- Explore 3 km – Reward: 15 Poké Balls
- Defeat 3 Team GO Rocket members – Reward: 5 Revives
- Use a supereffective Charged Attack – Reward: 1 Fast TM
Completion Rewards:
- Dynamax Kubfu encounter
- 891 XP
- Win 3 raids – Reward: 3,000 Stardust
- Spin 30 PokéStops or Gyms – Reward: 3,000 Stardust
- Power up Pokémon 10 times – Reward: 3,000 Stardust
- Earn 25,000 XP – Reward: 2 Rare Candies
Completion Rewards:
- 25 Kubfu Candies
- 891 XP
For trainers seeking an extra Kubfu, Niantic offers the ‘Fuzzy Fighter’ paid Special Research. Priced at $8, this ticket provides a second Dynamax Kubfu, along with items like Incense, Premium Battle Passes, and encounters with season-themed Pokémon. The ticket is available for purchase from March 5 to March 10, 2025.
Currently, evolving Kubfu into Urshifu is disabled. Niantic plans to enable this feature later in the season, allowing trainers to choose between Single Strike Style or Rapid Strike Style Urshifu.
Trainers are encouraged to log in and claim the ‘Might and Mastery’ Special Research before June 3, 2025. Once obtained, there is no time limit to complete the tasks.
