Xbox leadership changes: Phil Spencer retires, Sarah Bond resigns

Phil Spencer is stepping away from Microsoft after 38 years, ending a 12-year run leading the gaming organization. He will stay on as an adviser through the summer to help with the handover.

Microsoft confirmed a planned succession that elevates Asha Sharma to EVP and CEO of Microsoft Gaming. Sharma previously led CoreAI product work focused on AI models and services.

Sarah Bond, Xbox president and COO, is also leaving Microsoft to pursue her next chapter. Matt Booty moves up to EVP and Chief Content Officer, reporting to Sharma.
