BT Group has started its fiscal year with encouraging performance, particularly in its broadband and mobile service divisions. In the three months ending June 30, 2025, the company reported significant growth in full-fibre broadband (FTTP) and 5G network coverage.

The company’s Openreach division now provides full-fibre broadband access to 19 million premises across the UK. On average, BT added about 81,000 premises each week, underscoring its commitment to nationwide digital infrastructure. In terms of active usage, 7.1 million customers are now using BT’s FTTP services, and Openreach saw 566,000 net new additions, a 46% increase compared to the same period last year.

BT’s mobile service, powered by EE, also made impressive gains. The 5G network now covers 87% of the UK population, with mobile customer numbers growing by 12% year-over-year to reach 13.5 million users. This makes EE one of the leading mobile networks in the country, both in terms of reach and user base.

BT Group CEO Allison Kirkby stated that the business is off to a strong start this fiscal year. She noted the progress made in customer connectivity, operational streamlining, and network investments. Kirkby also confirmed that the company is on track to meet its full-year goals and will continue to prioritize high-quality service across both broadband and mobile networks.
