Bharti Airtel is set to enhance its digital entertainment offerings with the upcoming launch of its second-generation 4K Xstream IPTV set-top box, featuring the Realtek RTD1325 chipset. This new device aims to provide users with a seamless integration of live television and over-the-top (OTT) content through a broadband connection.
The forthcoming set-top box, manufactured by Sercomm and codenamed IPTV2-SM / XstreamIPTV2-SM, is equipped with a quad-core 1.7 GHz ARM Cortex-A55 processor and an ARM Mali-G57 GPU. It includes 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage, ensuring smooth operation and ample space for applications. Running on Android TV 14, the device supports Widevine L1 certification for high-definition content playback and offers compatibility with AV1, VP9, H.264, and H.265 (HEVC) video codecs. Additional features include Google Cast, Google Assistant integration, and Dolby Atmos support for an immersive viewing experience.
The first-generation Airtel 4K Xstream IPTV set-top box, codenamed UIW4078ATL / IPTV1-VT and manufactured by Vantiva, utilized a quad-core 2.0 GHz ARM Cortex-A55 Amlogic S905Y5 SoC with an ARM Mali-G31 MP2 GPU. It also featured 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage, running on Android TV 14 with similar codec support and Widevine L1 certification. The new Realtek-powered model is expected to offer improved performance and enhanced streaming capabilities.
Airtel’s IPTV service is currently available in select regions. Interested customers can check availability and book a new connection through the Airtel website or by visiting the nearest Airtel Store. The second-generation set-top box is in the testing phase and is anticipated to launch soon.Airtel Xstream IPTV plans start at around $7.19 per month, offering unlimited 30 Mbps internet, access to over 350 live TV channels, and subscriptions to OTT platforms like ZEE5 and JioHotstar, along with more than 22 additional OTT apps.
