BYD has officially unveiled the interior of its latest plug-in hybrid SUV, the Sealion 07 DM, in China. This model, a refreshed version of the Frigate 07 crossover, is expected to enter the Chinese market with a price range between 200,000 and 250,000 yuan (approximately 27,450 to 34,350 USD).
The Sealion 07 DM’s cabin showcases BYD’s contemporary design language, featuring a 15.6-inch rotatable floating touchscreen at the center console and a 10.25-inch LCD instrument panel. The four-spoke, flat-bottom steering wheel houses the gear shifter behind it, adorned with the BYD logo. The center tunnel is equipped with a wireless charging pad, dual cup holders, and a storage compartment that offers both cooling and heating functionalities.
The SUV provides seating for five, with a spacious bench in the second row and a panoramic sunroof enhancing the sense of openness. The front seats are designed with integrated headrests and offer ventilation, heating, and massage functions. Rear seats also come with ventilation and heating capabilities, ensuring comfort for all passengers.
A standout feature of the Sealion 07 DM is the “God’s Eye” C (DiPilot 100) intelligent driving system. This system integrates 12 cameras, five millimeter-wave radars, and 12 ultrasonic sensors to provide comprehensive 360-degree perception. The setup includes front-view, panoramic, and surround-view cameras, with the front radar capable of detecting objects up to 300 meters away. The ultrasonic sensors boast an accuracy of 1 cm, facilitating precise parking with a margin of error within 2 cm. Additionally, an optional LiDAR sensor can be mounted on the roof, enhancing the vehicle’s ability to navigate urban environments, recognize traffic signals, detect obstacles, and perform autonomous overtaking maneuvers.
The Sealion 07 DM measures 4,880 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,750 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,820 mm. It offers two powertrain configurations:
- DM-i System: Combines a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine producing 115 kW (154 hp) with a single electric motor delivering 200 kW (268 hp), resulting in a front-wheel-drive setup.
- DM-p System: Utilizes the same 1.5-liter engine paired with two electric motors, collectively generating 350 kW (469 hp) and enabling all-wheel drive.
The DM-p variant accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 200 km/h. Both versions are equipped with a 26.6 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, offering an electric-only range between 100 to 120 km. When the battery is depleted, fuel consumption ranges from 5.5 to 6.6 liters per 100 km.
With its blend of advanced technology, luxurious interior features, and robust performance, the BYD Sealion 07 DM is poised to make a significant impact in the plug-in hybrid SUV market upon its release.
