Whoop 5.0 Launch: New Health Features Unveiled
Published Date: 09/05/2025

Whoop has officially launched its latest fitness tracker, the Whoop 5.0, marking a significant evolution in the company’s wearable technology lineup. Designed to broaden its appeal beyond elite athletes, the new device introduces advanced health monitoring features, a sleeker design, and a revamped subscription model.

The Whoop 5.0 comes in two variants: the standard model and the Whoop MG (Medical Grade), which includes FDA-cleared EKG capabilities. Both versions are 7% smaller than their predecessor, the Whoop 4.0, and boast a 60% increase in processing speed. The devices offer up to 14 days of battery life, complemented by a new wireless charging pack that provides an additional 30 days of charge. It’s important to note that straps from the 4.0 model are incompatible with the new version; however, Whoop plans to offer an upcycling kit for existing users.

Building on its commitment to comprehensive health tracking, the Whoop 5.0 introduces several new features:

  • Healthspan Metric: Assesses physiological aging by analyzing nine different metrics, offering users a “Whoop Age” and personalized lifestyle recommendations.
  • Blood Pressure Insights: Provides estimated readings and guidance, requiring calibration with a cuff.
  • Hormonal Insights for Women: Delivers information on how hormonal changes may affect recovery, sleep, stress, and performance during various life stages.
  • EKG Functionality: Available in the Whoop MG model, this feature allows for the detection of atrial fibrillation and irregular heart rhythms.
  • Sleep Tracking Enhancements: Includes an updated Sleep Score, haptic alarms, and bedtime recommendations.
  • Whoop Advanced Labs: An upcoming feature that will enable users to schedule clinician-reviewed blood tests, integrating results within the Whoop app.

In a strategic move to make its offerings more accessible, Whoop has introduced a tiered subscription model:

  • Whoop One ($199/year): Includes the Whoop 5.0 hardware, a wired charging pack, basic fitness tracking metrics, and AI coaching.
  • Whoop Peak ($239/year): Offers all features of Whoop One, plus the Healthspan metric, stress tracking, a wireless charger, and a Health Monitor dashboard.
  • Whoop Life ($359/year): Provides the Whoop MG hardware with EKG and blood pressure insights, encompassing all features from the lower tiers.

The introduction of the Whoop 5.0 signifies the company’s intent to compete more aggressively in the health and fitness wearable market, challenging established players like Garmin, Oura, and Samsung. While the device maintains its screenless design philosophy, focusing on in-depth health analytics, the new features and pricing strategy aim to attract a broader user base.

Orders for the Whoop 5.0 are now open, with the company emphasizing its commitment to providing users with tools to better understand and improve their health and performance.
