Anthropic has partnered with Macquarie Asset Management and Singapore-based investment firm GIC to create a new data-center platform called Theseus Infrastructure. The project is designed to build large-scale computing facilities that can support Anthropic’s rapidly growing artificial intelligence operations.
Under the partnership, Theseus Infrastructure will develop, operate and lease data centers to Anthropic through long-term agreements. The facilities will be specially designed for the heavy computing requirements of advanced AI models such as Claude.
The companies plan to begin with new sites in the United States. Anthropic will serve as the main tenant at these facilities, while funds managed by Macquarie Asset Management and GIC will own the platform and provide most of the equity needed for individual projects. No overall investment figure for the platform has been announced.
The partnership comes as demand for AI computing infrastructure continues to grow. Developing and operating advanced AI models requires large amounts of processing power, electricity and specialized data-center capacity. Anthropic has been expanding its infrastructure through several partnerships as usage of Claude grows among businesses, developers and individual users.
Theseus Infrastructure gives Anthropic another way to secure dedicated computing capacity instead of depending only on existing cloud infrastructure. Macquarie brings experience in developing, financing and operating major infrastructure projects, while GIC adds long-term investment capital and experience in global infrastructure assets.
The planned data centers are also expected to bring economic activity to the areas where they are constructed. The partners expect the developments to create thousands of construction jobs as well as permanent positions needed to operate the facilities. Anthropic has also committed to covering electricity price increases that local consumers might otherwise face because of power demand from these sites.
For Anthropic, the partnership is another important step in securing the enormous amount of computing infrastructure needed to compete in the fast-growing AI market. As companies race to develop more capable AI models, access to chips, electricity and data-center capacity is becoming just as important as advances in AI software itself.
The launch of Theseus Infrastructure shows how closely AI companies, infrastructure specialists and major global investors are now working together. With the first projects focused on the United States, the platform could become an important part of Anthropic’s long-term plan to expand Claude and support growing demand for advanced AI services.
