Apple Discontinues The Mac Pro With No Plans For Future Hardware

Apple has ended the Mac Pro product line, closing the chapter on its highest-end desktop for professional users. The company has removed the machine from its website and the former purchase page now redirects customers to the broader Mac lineup.

The decision is more significant than a routine product removal because Apple has also confirmed there are no plans for future Mac Pro hardware. That makes this a full exit from the category, not a pause and it sharpens the company’s desktop strategy around the Mac Studio.

For years, the Mac Pro served users with demanding creative workflows, including video editors, photographers and other professionals who needed maximum desktop performance. Its current-era design arrived in 2019, followed by a 2023 refresh with the M2 Ultra chip, but the system did not receive another update after that release.

Apple’s shift suggests the Mac Studio will now carry the brand’s premium desktop positioning for pro-level customers. With the Mac Pro discontinued, the company is simplifying its desktop lineup while moving away from a product family that had been part of the Mac range since 2006.
