Anthropic IPO: Nasdaq ANT Filing Reveals $80.7 Billion Net Loss

Anthropic IPO Nasdaq ANT Filing Reveals $80.7 Billion Net Loss

Anthropic, the artificial intelligence company behind the popular Claude chatbot, has officially filed for an initial public offering (IPO) in the United States. The move brings the company closer to entering the stock market and could lead to one of the biggest IPOs in history.

Anthropic confirmed its public IPO filing on October 26, 2026, in an official IPO announcement. The company submitted a Form S-1 registration statement to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and plans to list its Class A shares on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under the ticker symbol ANT.

An IPO allows a private company to sell its shares to public investors for the first time. For Anthropic, this could provide more money to develop advanced AI technology and expand its business.

According to Anthropic’s Form S-1 filing, the company generated $16.3 billion in revenue during the six months ended June 30, 2026, compared with approximately $1.2 billion during the same period in 2025. The increase shows how quickly demand for Anthropic’s AI products and services has grown.

Anthropic reported a net loss of approximately $80.7 billion for the first half of 2026. However, around $72.4 billion of this amount came from a noncash accounting charge linked to changes in the value of convertible notes and related financial instruments. Its operating loss during the same period was about $693 million, showing why the reported net loss should not be treated as money spent entirely on running the business.

Anthropic has become one of the leading names in artificial intelligence through its Claude assistant, coding tools and recent Claude model updates. Its technology is increasingly used by businesses for writing, software development, research and everyday tasks.

Anthropic competes directly with OpenAI, the developer of ChatGPT. Both companies are moving toward possible public listings, with TechBonafide previously reporting on OpenAI’s potential IPO. Anthropic has also attracted major technology partners, including Amazon and Google, which have invested in the company and supported its cloud computing needs.

Anthropic’s possible stock market valuation is also attracting major attention. According to Reuters’ reporting on investor estimates, some current and potential investors have recently discussed a valuation of around $1.5 trillion, down from roughly $2 trillion a week earlier. However, these figures are estimates, and the company’s final IPO valuation has not been confirmed.

Reports suggest Anthropic could begin marketing its IPO to investors as soon as the week of November 9, 2026. However, the company has not confirmed an exact trading date, share price or number of shares to be offered. Its registration statement must also become effective before shares can be sold to investors.

Developing powerful AI models requires expensive chips, data centers and cloud computing resources. Anthropic also faces challenges involving AI safety, rising costs and long-term profitability. Regulators are paying greater attention to these issues, including an FTC investigation involving Anthropic and OpenAI. The investigation does not mean either company has been found to have broken the law.

Anthropic’s planned IPO could become an important test of investor confidence in the AI industry. Its rapid revenue growth is attracting attention, but investors will also be watching its costs, AI safety risks and ability to become profitable. A successful listing could influence how other major AI companies approach the stock market.
