Bitcoin and cryptocurrency-linked stocks jumped sharply after U.S. President Donald Trump renewed his call for Congress to pass the CLARITY Act, giving investors fresh hope that clearer crypto rules could soon arrive in the United States.
Trump made the comments during a White House meeting with leaders from the cryptocurrency and financial industries. He urged lawmakers to move forward with legislation that would create clearer rules for digital assets and help the United States remain competitive in the growing crypto sector.
Bitcoin moved above the $70,000 level as investors reacted to the renewed regulatory push. Ether also gained, while several other major digital assets moved higher. The rally showed how strongly crypto markets can respond to changes in regulatory expectations, especially in the United States.
Crypto-related stocks also benefited from the positive mood. Shares of cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase climbed, while Strategy, the company known for holding a large amount of Bitcoin, also moved higher. Mining companies including Riot Platforms, MARA Holdings and Bit Digital gained as well.
Other crypto-linked companies recorded even stronger moves. Bitcoin mining hardware maker Canaan jumped around 20%, while stablecoin company Circle and trading platform Robinhood also posted notable gains. The broad rise suggested that investors were betting on a friendlier regulatory environment for the digital asset industry.
The CLARITY Act is designed to create a clearer legal framework for cryptocurrencies in the United States. One of its main goals is to define when a digital asset should be treated as a security and when it should be considered a commodity.
That distinction is important because it would help clarify the responsibilities of the Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission. Crypto businesses have long argued that unclear or overlapping rules make it difficult to launch products, raise money and operate in the United States.
The legislation has already passed the U.S. House of Representatives. The House approved the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in July 2025 by a vote of 294 to 134, but progress in the Senate has been much slower.
Trump has repeatedly said that he wants the United States to become a global leader in cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology. His latest comments strengthened expectations that the administration will continue pushing for policies that support digital asset companies.
However, the CLARITY Act still faces political challenges. Some lawmakers want stronger ethics protections involving politicians and their financial interests in cryptocurrency businesses. Other disagreements involve how crypto companies should be regulated and how much authority different federal agencies should receive.
That means the latest rally does not guarantee that the legislation will quickly become law. Investors will be watching Congress closely to see whether lawmakers can reach an agreement and move the bill forward.
For the cryptocurrency industry, clearer federal rules could be significant. A more predictable regulatory system could make it easier for exchanges, blockchain companies, banks and institutional investors to participate in the market without constantly questioning which regulations apply.
The latest surge in Bitcoin and crypto stocks shows that regulation remains one of the biggest forces influencing digital asset markets. If Congress makes progress on the CLARITY Act, optimism could continue. But further political delays or disagreements could quickly bring uncertainty back to the market.
