GTA 6 File Size Reportedly 210 GB on PS5; Preload Starts November 12

GTA 6 File Size Reportedly 210 GB on PS5; Preload Starts November 12

On October 27, the third-party account PlayStation Game Size reported that Grand Theft Auto VI could require a 210 GB download on PlayStation 5. The figure has attracted attention ahead of the game’s scheduled November 19, 2026 release, but Rockstar Games has not publicly confirmed it as the final PS5 storage requirement.

Insider Gaming also reported the 210 GB figure and said it could corroborate the information. However, a reported download size is not necessarily the same as the final installed footprint, which may change with updates or installation requirements.

Rockstar has shown a detailed Vice City and other locations across the fictional state of Leonida in its official footage. TechBonafide’s extended GTA 6 gameplay coverage explores those environments, but the visual scale of the game alone does not establish its final file size.

GTA 6 follows Jason and Lucia as they become involved in a criminal conspiracy across Leonida. The studio’s October 15 launch trailer offered another look at their story, as covered in TechBonafide’s GTA 6 launch-trailer report.

How Much Storage Could GTA 6 Need?

If the PS5 estimate proves accurate, players may need to free up space before preloading. Sony’s official PS5 storage guide explains how to check available capacity under Settings > Storage, delete unused games, or move games to compatible storage. PS5 games stored on USB extended storage cannot be played directly from that drive.

The reported 210 GB figure relates to the PS5 version. Neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has published an official file-size figure for Xbox Series X or Series S, so the PS5 estimate should not be treated as an Xbox storage requirement.

GTA 6 Release Date, Preload and Physical Edition

According to Take-Two Interactive’s official pre-order announcement, GTA 6 is scheduled for release on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Digital pre-orders are scheduled to become available for preloading on November 12, one week before launch.

The announced physical edition is a code-in-box package, not a game disc. Take-Two says the boxed edition will be available starting November 12 to support preloading, so buyers will still need to download the game rather than install it from a disc.

For now, 210 GB remains a reported PS5 download size rather than an officially confirmed storage requirement. Players can check available space before the November 12 preload and verify the actual download size through their console’s store listing once it becomes available. Anyone searching for the game online should avoid unofficial early-download offers; TechBonafide’s guide to identifying fake game download pages explains the warning signs.
